Preparation for our horror teaser trailer
This is my moodboard for our horror teaser trailer, i have included a variety of pictures in the mood board. In the trailer the monster is a girl that has a past with the mental hospital where the trailer is set. There are also pictures which esablish the setting of the trailer, the pictures show big gates with old hospitals, personally i think this is very scary. Also a big part in the trailer is about building tention with a creepy door, so i have used pictures of old door with light coming from below, this helps connote un-natural light.

How the horror genre represesnts genre in the films we have studied.
In halloween the characters are equally split, there are 6 men and 6 woman. Looking at this tells us that there isnt an odd amount of females to males, this recognises that the male characters are in just as much danger and the female characters are. However within the film the female characters Laurie, Annie and Lynda are shown to be doing domestic chores such as cleaning and cooking. This leans the argument towards one side showing that females are viewed steriotypically. Also to support this argument Annie and Lynda are characters which are sexually presented, in consiquence to this these characters are later killed, this connotes how sex is bad and unpure and will have consiquences if it happends. Also the familial are presented in this film with Annies dad being the Sheriff, and Judith being the sister to Mike Myers. At the start of the film Judith is objectified in the death scene, Linda is also objectified in the bed scene and Annie is objectified in teh laundry scene. Although Laurie is not objectified, her name is gendre neutral, shes wears neutral clothing and doesnt wear any makeup and also has short hair. Within the film the death count is 3:2 woman to men. All of this shows reasons to why Woman have been connoted as objects and are stereotypically viewed.
The shining doesnt have an equal split of women to men ratio, this time it is a 60/40 in favour of men. This already puts pressure on the woman characters giving men an unfair advantage. The rolls set in this film are very stereotypical and are very similar to Halloween, the mother Wendy does all the domestic chores such and cleaning an cooking. Also again familial roles are shown, Wendy and the wife, Danny as the son, and Jack as the father. In the bath scene the camera puts the audience in Jacks eyes sexually apprasing the woman as an object, although the woman turns into a corpse undermining the objectification process. When watching the film it made us realise how much the film made us objectify the woman without even noticing, when she turned into a corpse made us feel ashamed that we had made a big mistake in observing the scene in a sexuall way. Finally similar to halloween there are 3 women and 2 men killed, although in the shining there is only 4 woman within the whole film, this makes the deaths of the woman significant and bias towards them. This film has also targeted woman stereotypicaly and are out numberd my men considerably.
The last film we studied was Eden Lake,

Saw - Trailer
The Saw Trailer clearly indicates its genre. From all settings being black to narrative screen titles saying 'madman' at 1.04. Also at 1.15 it says psychopath'. There is a scene which has been sped up and a character grabs the camera which is a frightening scene on its own to add into a trailer which clearly shows the genre. There are a lot of indications of violence within the film as there are multiply scenes where someone is holding a sharp harmful object like a knife, glass or a saw. The production value it relies on is the creators of the movie as there aren't particularly big actors or neither do there look to be brilliant affects. The company is lion gate which is a well-known company for horror movies. The iconography of the movie is the darkness throughout the trailer it is constantly dark apart from the moment they're in a dirty abandoned bathroom which they are tied up in. The theme binary oppositions is used with a clown which are usually for child’s entertainment, whereas in this movie it is used as a sort of message to the victims. Towards the end it says the name of the movie clearly stated too. The target will be interested in the reason the characters are chain up, why they're being watched and whether the Doctor kills the boy called Adam like the random voice telling is him to.
Official Scream 4 Trailer HD
Scream 4 is a horror movie made in 2011. This horror movie is obvious to Ashley and I as at 1.17 the narrative comes up, as there is no voice over, using the word 'terror'. The name of the film comes to us at the end of the clip which makes us want to watch the trailer more as we would like to know the name of the film which is Scream 4 spelt 'scre4m'. The production value of the movie begins off at 24 seconds in when it says the 'legendary director' Wes Craven, this director is well known for his previous three famous scream horror movies. Another indication of the genre of horror is the last quote of the movie when a girl says "you, are about to die." this is a clear indication of horror. There is music which slowly builds up increases anticipation and builds up emphasis and then finally goes down again. This builds up the intensity which then makes the viewer want a sense of relief which usually only comes after watching the movie. The sentence "2011 terror gets a reboot" is divided up into scenes with bits of dialogue in-between each part of the sentence, which also builds up the intensity by certain characters saying "i know how the story ends." or "he found me." is doesn't give away anything of what they mean which would make the audience want more.

Eden Lake - NEW EXTREME TRAILER!
Eden Lake is a british horror film made in 2008. This particular trailer shows us many signs that indicates the film is a horror. For example, at 1.11 steve ( The boyfriend ) is shown chained up with barbed wire in distress, and Brett ( The leader of the gang ) says " Now we've got to finish this" when the shot changes a red flash is used to indicate blood and fear, this creates suspense and leaves the audience interested in what they do to "finish" him. The start of the trailer shows the couple going for a swim in a lake, this indicates the name of the film and where it will be set. This particular film doesnt have big film star actors, so they are not mentioned within the trailer. Also the film doesnt show off extreme special effects, this indicates the budget isnt very high. The trailer is an advert for the film, the use of the advert is to try and sell the film to as many buyers as possible. By doing this they must make sure they use correct techniques within the trailer to promote it's genre as a horror. For example the red flashes used work very well to show fear, and promote suspense within the trailer. Also using lots of small clips which are stringed together very fast makes the trailer more suspensfull.
